Don't miss out on the next big swing dance festive weekend including 1 night dinner on a river cruise in Saigon, Vietnam with Saigon Swing Cats!

  • Why Swing Me-ow? We are the cats who love to swing out, meow!
  • Why Saigon? This is not the official name of Ho Chi Minh city but it is what all Saigonese would still like to call it.

Instructor: Hong Wee owns a Leadership Consultancy business in the day, but his other true passion is executing dance leadership at night! He has been swing dancing since 2000, and began teaching in 2003. He has traveled widely and has won several competitions throughout Asia, including being the first non-Korean to be placed in Korea Lindy Hop Championship (KLHC) 2012. Teaching Lindy Hop and Balboa has brought him a lot of joy, as he gets to combine his favorite things – connecting with people, exercising, learning and most importantly, spreading the love of swing!!

Instructor: Carlos Machava is a professional dancer in the National Dance and Singing Company (CNDC) - Mozambique - and with the group "Hodi Maputo Afro-Swing". He teaches traditional Mozambican dances, Afro-swing and contemporary dances. Carlos grew up in Maputo, Mozambique with a love of theater, singing and dancing, which he started practicing at a very young age. For him, dancing is the transformation of music and rhythm in body movement. Dancing is what makes him feel alive and what gives him energy and motivation every day. Mozambican traditional dances were used during colonial times to fight for peace, and Carlos feels proud and powerful when he dances them. When Carlos discovered swing dances, he fell in love with this rhythm dance, which mixes African style of dancing and music with European traditional dances. He loves to take Lindy hop back to the roots, bringing more African into the dance with Afroswing. Carlos' classes are dynamic and energetic and he likes to explore a variety of movements, rhythms and techniques specific to traditional Mozambican dances. He accompanies his classes - both traditional Mozambican classes and Afro-swing classes - with live drum playing.
