Descriptions of each class:
The New Basics: To introduce you into Swing dancing, we will share the history of the dance as well as the development of the dance today and all the fundamentals of this social vintage dance like pulses, frames, handhold, connection and footwork. You will learn both 6-count and 8-count movements which equip you for the most symbolic move of Lindy Hop: Swing Out.
The New Intermediate: From the Swing Out, we will build up your Lindy Hop vocabulary with more moves and combinations. More forms, shapes and rhythms to be added through moves which are put into small routines. You will be able to dance some Charleston and Solo Jazz steps.
Intermediate - Advanced: Having owned the rhythms and being able to create flow in Leading and Following, we will help you dance in faster tempo and grow musical interpretation skills with syncopation.
If you would like to book us for private (individual / couple / group) lessons, entertainment performances, charity or friendly shows / events, do not hesitate to contact us here.
Workshops are a great way to upgrade your dancing no matter how much experience you have had! We try to organize more of these to provide you with more options to enjoy dancing more with a variety of contents.
In 150 minutes, learn how to solo jazz dance with this fun simple routine called Doin' The Jive on Sunday morning of February 16, 2020.
This well-known in the Lindy Hop world routine was choreographed by Lindy Hoppers based in Seatle: Kelly Porter, Joshua Welter and Michael Faltesek, to the song “Doin’ the Jive” by the Careless Lovers released in 2012.
"Doin' the Jive" is a 1938 song composed by Glenn Miller and pianist Chummy MacGregor. The song features lyrics sung by Kathleen Lane and the band that introduced a new dance, "The Jive":
"You clap your handsAnd you swing out wideDo the Suzie QMix in a step or twoPut 'em all togetherAnd you're doin' the jive...".The Shim Sham Shenanigans
